Delicious Dubai with BoboChic
She has spent a lot of time in Dubai (a city I find intriguing, to say the least) and today she is going to share a few of the delicious sweet desserts you can find if you are visiting Dubai.

I thought it might be fun to write about the delicious treats I've discovered during my regular trips to Dubai .......so please follow along on my tour....'A Sweet Taste of Dubai.'
There's a thriving, popular café culture in the vibrant city of Dubai. Of course all the well-known chains are well-represented ....Costa, Starbucks, Tim Horton's, Gloria Jeans ... but I'm always on the look-out for something a little different and special....
Shakespeare and Co is something of an institution in the city .....and the Dubai Marina branch is both quirky and colourful and they serve the most amazing cakes too!
Having lived in France, I just can't resist French pastries and cakes and there's certainly no shortage in this city....
Paul was first established in 1889 in Croix, Northern France and we first came across this wonderful café and bakery in nearby Lille but there are now branches all over the world and several in Dubai which are popular both with locals and tourists. Our favourite branch on The Walk waterfront promenade is always busy.....
For chocoholics like me, Le Plaisir du Chocolat (which first opened on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland) is now based in Mercato Mall and it's an absolute must with various flavours of hot chocolate and scrumptious pastries ......

Recently opened, La Brioche Dorée on The Promenade has stunning views of Dubai Marina Yacht Club. The company was founded by Louis Le Duff in Brest, France. They serve one of the most decorative mochaccinos in town with a mini Madeleine on the side!
The cupcake trend is huge here too........ Hey Sugar, formerly Sugar Daddies has such a cute interior and the lightest cupcakes with witty names including Tanned and Toned (a chocolate cupcake with caramel frosting)and Beach Babe complete with a parasol.
Bloomsbury's scores highly too for its wide range of cupcakes both familiar, well-known flavours and more unusual ones using popular local ingredients ... saffron, rosewater, dates and pistachios, all so beautifully presented.
How could I not include Magnolia Bakery in Bloomingdales within the Dubai Mall (yes, Dubai has its own Blomingdales store and Galéries Lafayette too!)
The Magnolia red velvet with soft vanilla frosting will always be my choice here .....
Vogue Café situated in Level Shoe District, also in Dubai Mall, is as you would expect a stylish, fashionable venue ......
The chocolates and mini cookies served with tea and coffee are a nice touch........

Carluccio's Italian caffè and restaurant serve biscotti and a chocolate covered coffee bean with their cappuccino and even though I'm a fan of meringue, I haven't yet managed to finish one of these giants on my own!
For a taste of tradition my choice is always ..... Arabian Tea House, formerly Basta Art Café (in the Al Fahidi Historic District which used to be known as Bastakiya.) The pretty courtyard setting is an oasis of calm .... a refreshing lime and mint juice or tea from a selection of more than a hundred varieties with date and walnut cake - perfect! Dubai Museum is nearby and certainly worth a visit too.
Finally, last but not least, the Lime Tree Café , probably the first café we ever visited in Dubai in the late 90s. Their carrot cake is legendary, the best in Dubai!

So there we have my special selection and I'm already looking forward to the next new opening.........Angelina established in 1903 in the Rue de Rivoli opposite the Louvre in Paris....I know I won't be disappointed! I was so impressed with their famous chocolat chaud (a thick, decadent hot chocolate)and pastries which we enjoyed in Paris earlier this year. Apparently Coco Chanel was regularly seated at table number 10. I'm sure this will be a huge success!
There's much more to Dubai than coffee and cakes.......futuristic architecture, the Burj Khalifa (the world's tallest tower) glitzy shopping malls and traditional souks, sandy beaches and world class hotels and restaurants ......

Thank you SO much, Miss B...this post makes me hungry for any one of those scrumptious looking desserts! I find it so interesting that Dubai has outposts of all of our favorite places from New York, Paris and the rest of the world. What an interesting city!
