A Happy Birthday and A Bon Voyage!!

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -Mark Twain
Today, I am wishing my youngest child, Carter, both a Happy 20th Birthday and Bon Voyage as he sets out to spend three weeks in London studying at the London School of Economics and a week of backpacking through Spain. I guess, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
Carter's birthday is actually on Monday, which he will be spending alone in London on his first day of classes. He spent his 12th birthday in London, too, while we were on a family vacation. In a very scary moment, he fainted from dehydration and heat stroke while watching the Horse Guards and spent the rest of the day resting in our hotel room. He did get to have chocolate cake from Selfridge's Food Hall, though. It is hard to believe that was eight years ago!
I do hope this year's birthday in London is slightly less dramatic!
Carter, you have never shied away from adventure...from your first trip at two weeks old, to sleep away camp at eight, to China at thirteen, and Paris at sixteen...I hope your adventures this summer are equally as rewarding and memorable.
Have fun and we will see you the end of August! We love you!
